"You can kiss my decision as it's walking out the door."

When I first heard about the new ABC show, Nashville, I was hesitant to watch it.

Not because it's about country music, but because it looked like a really good show.

You see, after last year's heartbreak with my three new favorite shows (The Playboy Club, Pan Am, and GCB) I wasn't exactly anxious to fall in love with another anticipated drama that would only get cancelled a few months later.

Well, I caved in and watched it this past week.

And shit.

I'm in love.

The show revolves around a middle-aged country superstar, Rayna Jaymes, who faces declining record sales, while a bitchy new twenty-something sensation, Juliette Barnes, quickly becomes America's Sweetheart.

If the plot sounds familiar, it's because the show is based on the Gwyneth Paltrow film, Country Strong.

One of the reasons I love this show so much is because of the dead-on casting.

The stunning and vibrant Connie Britton shines brilliantly as the gracious, regal music legend Rayna. As a viewer you feel indignant on her behalf as she's mercilessly pushed aside by her record company in favor of hot new talent. And then you also respect her as a person, when you see the behind-the-scenes glimpse at her controlling family and her inner struggles.

I was a bit skeptical of Hayden Panettiere being cast as the Taylor Swift/Carrie Underwood diva, but she actually proved me wrong. She is nearly flawless in the role of Juliette, the most unlikeable character on the show. And it seems like her character is going to be more complex, when you realize her background couldn't be more different than her blueblood middle-aged counterpart.

I'm not a huge fan of country music, but I loved the songs that played in the first episode. There was a duet in particular that was so beautiful, I can already tell the soundtrack to this show is going to be amazing.

I really, really, really hope this show doesn't get cancelled.

What do you think? Will you watch Nashville?

I havent seen it but like you I have been heartbroken when shows I got into were canceled (ie Pushing Daises, Eli Stone, and V) So now I really am picky with what I watch. I may take a peak if they pick it up for a second season. LOL xox

I want to watch this. It looks good but seems like one of those shows that comes to England a year after first aired in the US :(
I may find it online. I love Connie Britton - She was fantastic in American Horror Story.

So, Pan Am is cancelled for sure? Damn, I just became upset. I thought the network was still deciding. Well, I'm going to miss the blonde pilot dude (who was also freaking hot). That show had some amazing production values!

I loved GCB, and was sad to see it go. I am not sure about Nashville yet, but I did like her exit :).

I just read a review that called this the best new show on TV. Even though I don't like country music, I'll tune in for the drama. Thanks for your recommendation.

I'll watch it now that you've recommended it. I also was very annoyed about Pan Am. I loved that show!

I feel like I watch way too much tv already, so I try not to watch any new shows, but some times I can't resist.

I've heard good things about Nashville (and immediately was like, "isn't this Country Strong?") so I might give it a go.

And I can't believe they canceled GCB. That show was so funny! It's hard to compete with crap comedies like Modern Family (sorry if you like Modern Family).

I watched it and loved it too! My favorite casting though had to be Lennon and Maisy as her daughters, they rose to fame from this viral video -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_aJHJdCHAo. Can't wait for the rest of the season!

Oh I'm so glad you posted about this, thought I was the only closet Nashville watcher...I loved Connie as the reigning Nashville star on her way down and agree with everything you said about Hayden too. I hope it doesn't get cancelled--that would suck, I was in love with Rubicon and that got cancelled too!

I don't watch TV, but you just convinced me to start watching. LOL! I'm not even joking.

Oh, and I wanted to reply to your comment about GMOs. I wouldn't doubt that GMOs are the reason why so many children have autism. I've heard independent scientists say that it's a combination of all of the crap we're exposed to on a daily basis that gives us diseases and makes people obese. Some also believe that autism is created through GMOs. There's a book called "Genetic Roulette" that I want to buy. Right now I'm reading "Sweet Deception" by Dr. Joseph Mercola and...OMG! You HAVE to read it! It's already changed the way I eat. Most of the things I eat now are raw (yes...even my eggs in the morning!).

Also, have you heard of the book called "AIDS, INC"? My boyfriend is reading that and I can't wait to get to it. It's fucking insane. There are so many diseases that have actually been created in a lab. Lyme Disease is another. I'm glad there are whistleblowers and scientists who are exposing the reality behind diseases.

Anyway...I'm really hoping prop 37 passes. I've seen a lot of support where I live. The people here may be assholes, but at least they care about what they eat. LOL!
