Well, I had my drink last night. And then I had four more.
And now I'm suffering from a massive hangover.
This week has been one of those "shitfuckdamn" kind of weeks.
On Tuesday, my mom found herself in a car accident. She's fine, but I'm shaking with anger because of what is happening now.
My mom is a meek driver, which satisfies me because it means I don't have to worry about her alone on the road. On Tuesday morning she was appropriately driving 20 miles per hour in a construction zone when another car sideswiped her. They pulled over on the side of the road. The damage was minimal, which was lucky considering my mom's car is brand new. My mom's side door was slightly caved in, and the other woman's car, a 1994 Toyota Corolla, only got a few scratches on the driver's door.
The woman told my mom that my mom tried to pass her and then hit her. My mom was extremely confused because she was driving 20 miles per hour, straight in her lane, surrounded by traffic cones. Not only was it impossible for any car to pass another on the street, my mom knows for a fact she didn't pass anyone. She's not that type of driver. My mom called the police, but the police refused to come out to the scene. Apparently my city is filled with such extreme amounts of crime that the police don't have time to report to fender benders.
So, my mom exchanged insurance information with the woman, and then went to the nearby police station to fill out a report.
A couple hours later, this woman called my mom and said the right side of her body hurt. She said she was going to need medical attention because of the accident. Another hour later, she called my mom again to tell her that for the next few months, she was going to keep an eye on any other aches and pains that might be from the accident. She called my mom two more times after that, but I didn't let my mom answer her calls anymore. She didn't leave messages.
My mom spent all day Tuesday and all day yesterday worried sick about the accident. My mom knows this woman is lying and it's really bothering her. My mom is very sweet and she thinks everyone is a good person and she believes nobody would ever want to hurt anyone else, so she's very overwhelmed.
The icing on the cake came this morning, when my mom called upset. The other woman's insurance company had called her to say that the other woman had told them the police had been on the scene Tuesday morning and they had told my mom the accident was her fault.
Ummm. What?
My mom quickly told them that was a lie. She explained that the police did not show up to the accident. The police, of course, called the insurance company and verified my mom's story. The insurance company was stunned. They were perturbed their client would lie to them. But they still need to determine fault, since their client is also adamantly claiming my mom passed her on the street, causing the accident.
So now, hangover and all, I have to drive my mother out to the scene and take photos of all the construction, just to prove there was no way my mom, or any other car, could pass another car in that mess.
It's going to be a FUN DAY!
Oh, and there's MORE!
Yesterday, my dad was driving in the parking lot of a grocery store when a woman in an SUV plummeted into him because she was texting. He's fine, and the woman was mortified. She immediately called her insurance company to admit fault and she's very concerned about my father's well-being. So complete opposite of the other incident.
And now I'm really worried to drive because...well shit, am I next?
And finally, I'm without a computer. My laptop broke yesterday and my parent's computer broke down Tuesday. And my dad's friend who fixes them for free is on a two-week cruise right now. Which means that any time I want to use a computer, I have to use my boyfriend's. So my internet access is extremely limited right now.
Anyway. That's my week so far.
If you read this entire post, you just earned the Awesome Award. Congratulations, kid. You deserve it.
OH :( What a hell of a week you're having. I hope everything turns out fine...! ***
ReplyDeleteHey Jennifer, I was reading your post and the woman that hit your mom sounds like a con-woman. I can't even fathom it, but she may have intentionally hit your mom to get money. I so feel for you and your family right now. I'm glad both of your parents are physically ok, but mentally it can be just as traumatizing. You know, they always talk about texting and driving! And these idiots out here are STILL doing it. It's worse than driving drunk. They need to start taking driver's licenses away for a year for texting while driving. I'm going to say a prayer for you. You're in my thoughts. ((HUG))

That's all so terrible. I have heard a couple of incidents like that regarding car accidents and it's just unbelievable how the facts can be twisted into such a lie. I hope that you and your mum sort it all out, good luck with everything. I can't believe both your mum and dad in the same week though! Thinking of you. I must say that I've had the worst week too so I'm feeling similar to you at the moment.
ReplyDeleteoohh!!omg!that is terrible!!sorry!i hope that you turns out fine!!
ReplyDeletekisses pretty and have a nice day=)
Good Lord. Buy yourself a pumpkin spice latte girl - maybe lattes for your entire family! That is insane.
ReplyDeleteThat lady who hit your mom probably did it on purpose. People do that shit a lot, espescially in bad economies, to try and get "free" money. Ugh. Her karma will come.
Meanwhile, try to keep your stress as low as possible and your anger as low as possible too (even though it's difficult) that lady probably has some major problems to attempt something like that...
ohhh...this is so bad...hope it all resolves...
ReplyDeleteI'm angry on your mom's behalf! I hate it when people try to take advantage of each other. I'm sorry that your parents have had such a crappy day. And I can understand why you're worried. Sorry, friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your mom! That's just not okay. But I'm glad she's not hurt. And drag about your computer. Sounds like you deserved that drink, gorgeous.

I don't blame you at all for not wanting to drive! You're awesome to go out and take pics with your mom of the scene. I hope the police are able to substantiate it all for her as well. Scammers are HORRIBLE people. I wish your folks the best!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your mom's accident :( That's the worst, but I hope that lady gets what she deserves!
ReplyDeleteHOLY CRAP. Sorry about your week. How stinkin' awful all around.
ReplyDeleteThe weekend is approaching and things can only get better, amiright?
xoxo
Oh my goodness, that sounds just awful!!! I can't believe that crazy woman who hit your mom! Glad to hear everyone is at least physically OK, and I hope everything gets sorted out w insurance ASAP! I'm sure things will get better very soon :)
ReplyDeleteI won an award... for reading till the end.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, even I as a complete stranger feel so angry for your mum. I dunno why that lady had to do that when it's her fault. It's ok not to admit her fault but to totally twist the whole story round and even trying to con the insurance company is just unethical.
I'm glad that your dad had a happy story to tell and it's reassuring to know both your parents are fine.
On a separate note, my hubby isn't in town so I've been using his car but I let my bro-in-law drive the past few days and now the car needs servicing! I think the bad luck has wafted over to my side.
what a week you´re having! but hopefully it will all go for the better!
ReplyDeletetake care!
Hugs

I guess it's all upwards from here on Ms. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteSunshine and lollipops await you.
Ahhhh, so sorry to hear about your week!! I feel so bad for your mum. Hope she's ok. I can imagine her being a bit shakey. Send her a virtual hug for me!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the other woman lied like that! I hate it when people like that take advantage of nicer people. It's horrible.
I hope everything works out fine. So sorry for your mom and dad ... and of course you. I know about weeks like that but anythign that happens after those days is like 'paradise', it can only get better and the good news is that your love ones are healthy and safe :):).

Oh no. That woman is a con and everyone will soon see it. Good to know nobody in your family is injured. Hang in there Jennifer. Hope it gets better soon :)
ReplyDeleteGayatri
that sucks. surely the other lady's insurance will end up paying though.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bunch of crap! A similar BS thing happened to my coworker- the other woman basically just completely lied about what happened, even though the evidence on the cars didn't back up her story at all. The lame insurance company ended up just splitting the difference with money, saying they didn't know what to do. Lame.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry re your mama, sweetie. Rest up this weekend. Warmly hope you'll be feeling better after all the drama and much drinking. Nice weekend. xx
ReplyDeleteI earned the awesome award! :D. That is such a bad week. How can ppl be such liars...I have no idea. Don't worry things are gonna be fine
ReplyDeleteoh no. that is terrible.
ReplyDeleteOh gosh that's awful, that there are some 'Sh**Motherf*****Sh**' kinda people out there laying their asses off!
ReplyDeleteYour poor mom! I hope hope both Fabulous parents are well, sending you hugs and maybe Alka Seltzer - the only thing that sorts my head out!
x.o.x.o
The sequence of these events sounds threatening. Don't worry; we'll have our fingers crossed for you. I hope that everything will turn out fine eventually. I have a feeling that, in case of your mom, it's time to find a good lawyer.
ReplyDeleteIt's in times like accidents and other stressful events that our true colors show. That other woman is clearly satan's niece. I mean, to lie and put your mother through that stress is just evil. But I'm glad your mom and dad are ok.
ReplyDeleteHope this weekend brings you lots of tranquility and happiness! xoxo

Good grief. Your poor parents. Thank goodness you're ok! There's a surprise for you over at la blog that might cheer you up!
ReplyDeleteOh Goodness, I hope things get back to normal for your and your family soon. Car accidents are no fun even if everyone is safe and all. Best of luck to you with everything, seriously! Hope you get to have some real rest soon.
ReplyDeleteWe've earned awesome? O god no we have not .... I feel lurid, as though I should have averted my fluttering eyes and not been so gruesomely hypnotized by nice people's bad fortune and bad peoples capacity for shittyness.
ReplyDeleteYou have the awesomeness, and have certainly earned the semi dubious luxury of a little hangover. Hope your computer hangover clears up too.
Sympathetically yours....
Well, I earned the Awesome Award cos I read the whole post hahaha. Actually I got completaly hooked with the story that I couldn't stoped reading yor post!
ReplyDeleteI hope everything turns out fine :)
I do hope your mom will come out of this unscathed emotionally--accidents really can do a number on folks. I know it is hard on the whole family but you have a few people out here praying for you all. Hang in there . . .
ReplyDeleteOhhh,my, horrible!! that's really horrible! hopen it all resolves... what a hell of a week! i feel you...i hope you have a better week ahead and feel well by now.
ReplyDeleteye i win the awesome award! but seriously this does seem like one of those weeks where murphy's law is applied just so many times!!
ReplyDeleteDear bestie,
ReplyDeleteCRAP! I'm sorry to hear about what happened. Story of your mom totally upsets me too!
Some people are just WRONG. Le sigh. I can totally relate to you and your parents. What a frustrating week.
I'm glad your parents are both okay.
Sending positive thoughts!
Hope your weekend is a relaxing one!
I just read the entire post because I wanted to make sure you were okay! xo! So sorry about both your mom and your dad. I cannot believe that lady - that is ridiculous that she would lie!! And that is just bad luck that your dad got into a car accident as well.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your laptop troubles - at least the boyfriend is being nice and letting you use his. Hang in there friend.
And here I thought my week was not so good. Your poor mum. Make sure she doesn't get taken for a ride by that lady. If she knows there's someone looking out for your mum she'll back down I'm sure
ReplyDeleteOh no! I'm so sorry to hear about everything that's going on! I completely understand what your mother must be going through. It's nerve-wracking! She just needs to try to remain calm and focus on getting her case together, so she can prove her story. And it's great that you two went and took photos of the scene. That is one of the best things you can do. Unfortunately, the woman that hit your mom sounds like a complete nut! (And I bet her driving record isn't clean either, which could work in your mom's favor.) Hopefully any "injuries" she has will be proven to be fake because I seriously doubt she was hurt in any way.
ReplyDeleteI truly hate that people fake that kind of stuff though. I was in a bad car accident a few years ago. (It was my fault.) But the other driver said he didn't need medical attention at first, but when I was in the hospital being treated for my injuries, he showed up. And my family said he was clearly faking a limp because sometimes it was there and sometimes it wasn't. Fortunately though, he ended up being fine and I was never charged with the accident because he didn't show up in court. But it's still such a scary situation! You just never know what people are going to do these days.
I'm glad both of your parents are okay though. And hopefully everything works out in your mom's favor!
Holy crap - that's rough!
