RIP Alexander McQueen

Very few people take risks in this world. Especially when it comes to a career that can either make you a star or make you a world-famous joke.

Alexander was one of those people who put his creativity on the line and turned it into something magical, something so surreal and beautiful, we couldn't help but ogle at his genius.

Unfortunately, we lost him today. He was way too young to die, just being 40 years old.

This is a significant loss for the fashion world.

He helped change the world, in his own glamorous way. He inspired other fashion designers, he inspired future fashion designers, and he helped inspire fashion icon Lady Gaga.

I can only hope that his dedication and success he obtained by putting his heart and soul into his work will inspire others to do the same.

We need more people like Alexander McQueen in this world.

  1. Wow. I'm not big into fashion and I don't usually 'get' what a designer is presenting, but he seemed very avante-gard. While I can't necessarily appreciate these designs I certainly DO appreciate anyone with a creative mind who dares to be bold and in-your-face.

In this regard it looks like he will be missed, and I'm sure it's a big blow to the fashion world.

  2. And oh my effing God, FIRST COMMENT?? Do you know how hard that is here? I have about the same chance as spotting a Yeti.

I think I should take a day off to celebrate. And eat lots of chocolate ice cream.

    Any excuse will do.

    Stay Fabulous Jen, you're awesome.

    xoxo

  3. I think creativity is one of the most important characteristics a person can have. Creativity motivates us to explore different places in an abstract world and cross the bridges between static ideologies and the constant rise of ideas.

I wonder who buys his stuff though: Lady Gaga of course lol////

  8. this was the first thing I woke up to this morning.

And the tears just won't stop. I loved his work. He was such a visionary; and not someone who held it all inside and expected you to "get it". We got it!

This is hitting me as hard as Micheal Jackson.
He was one of the top 2 reasons I wanted to see London. I have been saving pennies just to own something by him.

And now he's gone. And he's taken all his talent with him.

  10. we do need more designers, and people like mcqueen. there is a major lack of originality in a lot of fashion - his death is certainly going to leave a void.

In regards to Alexander McQueen I, like everyone else, am very shocked. It is so very sad and I agree that his creativity was amazing. I don't know that much about him so I think your post was good to show me a little more.
