Oscar Weekend!

Well, it's that time of year again. The Academy Awards. Are you excited? I hope so!

I'm itching to see the gorgeous (and hideous) gowns glide down the red carpet. I'm anxious to see my favorite movie star and my future husband host the event together. I'm hoping a certain Harvard-educated beauty wins for Best Actress.

If you've been busy and haven't been able to catch up on what the Oscars are all about this year, here are a few things I recommend. A sort of Oscar 2011 mini sampler, I guess you could say.

Enjoy!

First, familiarize yourself with how the Oscar nominations and voting process works. It's actually a lot more interesting than you think!

Let Tchaikovsky give you goosebumps...or swanbumps.

Rent the nominated documentary, Exit Through The Gift Shop. It is the most interesting documentary I have seen in a LONG time. Plus, if it wins the Oscar, Banksy may pick up the award in an outlandish costume...or not even show up at all.

Steal Anne Hathaway's style.

Anne Hathaway

Get to know her co-host and Best Actor nominee, James Franco.

Celebrate with delicious food! The official Oscar website offers fun recipes, such as Deviled Eggs with Caviar and Chili Orange Kettle Corn. Or, make a toast to the winners with a Moet Starlet.

And finally, don't forget to have a glamorous weekend!

  2. The only thing I really loathe about the Oscars is that they start so late at night that even I, who seldom goes to bed before 3 o'clock in the morning, can't watch the whole show.
But I'm curious who'll win & what everybody is wearing, though :-D I wonder if Mickey Rourke'll be there, since I've such a huge crush on that guy & I totally don't care if everyone else says how ugly he is or whatever - IMO he's H.O.T.!

  3. I'm usually bored to anger by the Oscars...and this year, since we don't have a TV, I'll pretty much be waiting to hear about any giant mistakes and then rushing online to see someone do something dumb...over and over.

Give Franco a virtual kiss for me!

  16. I usually miss the award shows b/c of my jerky husband and his desire to watch horrible nature documentaries instead of award shows -- but he gave me a thumbs up for the oscars!

  26. I am so excited to see the Oscars and there has never been a red carpet event that I have wanted to see so much as this year's event. My mum and I were thinking of going to watch the live screening of it at the cinema but since it is at 11am monday our time and I have university then I shouldn't go. It would have been so much fun though.

  29. I ruined the Oscars for myself when I worked at the Governors Ball last year. Most stars are, you guessed it, assholes. Not cool. It was fun, my shoes hurt so bad I wanted to cry, and I was starving. Overall, good experience.
