This show isn't new to anyone.
But I have to admit, I'm obsessed with it. I can't keep it a secret any longer.
I only started watching the show a month ago. Kerrie made me promise to watch it. She has been a faithful fan since the beginning. She insisted it was a Jenny show. I was skeptical. After all, I am not a Twilight fan. Those films do nothing for me. And the whole vampire teenage craze really went over my head these past few years. I thought it was silly.
Unfortunately, I was the silly one. You see, Kerrie and I know each other better than we know ourselves.
I got season one from the library and after a few episodes, The Vampire Diaries became my crack. And now that I've finished season one, I'm dying to see season two, but it's going to be a while before that DVD set comes out. Such torture!
For those who don't know, the show is based on a popular book series. The plot revolves around a gorgeous girl-next-door, Elena, who falls in love with a sexy boyscout of a vampire, Stefan. Her best friend is a witch. His vampire brother is a bad boy. Their town is filled with secrets. Hilarity, drama, and eeriness ensue.
It. Is. Awesome.
At first, I was a little put off by the show because of its cheesy nature. But once you get past the silliness, you start to see the show for what it really is. The show does not take itself too seriously. It's filled with wry humor. Plus, everyone is super hot (just like REAL LIFE! Right?!) and the soundtrack is kick ass. The characters are deliciously three-dimensional. In other words, this show is way cooler than Twilight. I know that's shocking for some of you, but trust me, I'm an expert on all things cool.
Every episode is action-packed and filled with mystery and sexual tension. When every episode ends, you want the next one to begin. Immediately. Like I said, crack.
If you have not seen this show, do yourself a favor and either netflix it or check it out from the library.
I insist.

I love this show!! omg you should see the second season I totally love it...and I garantee you will gasp at least one time per episode haha...I love the characters and the plot has really been developed greatly..so cool you like this show

I LOVE VAMPIRE DIARIES! I've tried to get my family into it but they don't believe me b/c they saw Twilight and thought it was silly. But this show is so fantastic! Wait til you see Season 2 the first couple of episodes are like season finale standards! Just sooooo good, can't say enough!

So far, I haven't watched it, but it's also on German TV. (But actually I prefer to watch TV series online & in English - gotta practice my language skills *gg*)
So far I don't get that teenage vampire thingy (Twilight = cheese city *lol* I still wonder why it got so popular?!), but if you say this is different then I should give it a try as I trust your taste!
The only vampire series I watched for a while was "True Blood" which I kinda liked, but I guess I was expected too much, I really wanted it to be a little wilder & to show more craziness! Plus I didn't find any of the guys involved hot - that's always a minus in my book *g* E.g. I loved "Lost" because of Sawyer, OMG he's one of the hottest guys ever seen on TV *swoons* I need a handsome bad guy in a TV series, otherwise I get bored too easily - superficial me *lol*

I LOVE TVD. Well, I loved it more in the first season. The story has gotten a bit ridiculous now. And I'm annoyed that they have weeks and weeks of gaps in between episodes. But I still tune in because Damon is DROOL WORTHY. Does that make me a perv? Probably. Don't care. SWOON.

this is totally my guilty pleasure. the first few episodes i was so certain it was filmed in the 90s but you're right, they're quite wry with it and it makes me love it more. How super beautiful is the actress that plays Elena too! just your everyday small town girl....

I love Damon more than words can describe, hehe. I saw the first season and was so hooked! I haven't got round to the second season either.
I have actually never seen this series. But I have heard so many people saying that this is such a good series that I think I might have to check it out soon. Probably when I'm finished at uni (which is in less than two months, scary!)

I am over the craze over vampires. I read all the Twilight books and a couple of other vampire series like Vampire Academy (much better than Twilight and I still have the last book to read but I kind of don't want to, to avoid depression, yes it's that heart touching). I've seen the commercial for this show and I've been skeptical too. I'm tired of watching vampires... but if it's become a Jenny show.. & Kerrie's a big fan... I might just jump back in the pool of blood again. :)

"True Blood" is the only Vampire show for me. Although I got a little bored with it last season. I mean...it takes a lot of creativity to freshen up one of the oldest stories around...
But Hollywood will keep trying. Fortunately. Or unfortunately.

I was never a Twilight fan, and happened to catch the Vampire Diaries during its first season. For whatever reason I was instantly hooked, and haven't looked back since. No shame here!
you know now i am going to have to put this on my summer to do list because i'm anti Twilight and i think you just changed my mind about this show - i watched in the very beginning and then stopped. but if you like it i think i will - i'll have to watch it this summer! ha ha good crack huh?!
