April Fool's Day Fail

Yesterday morning, I totally forgot it was April Fool's Day.

I'm kind of pissed off because I had an entire joke post conceptualized, but I didn't have a computer, or the time, to put it all together.

I was going to make a post revealing that I am, in fact, a 48-year-old man named Frank who still lives with his parents. I was going to tell you that I was living behind a curtain of deception and shame. I was going to claim that I had always wanted to be a 20-something-year-old girl and this blog was my hand into that world.

I was even going to post photos of a man like this one and claim it was me.

I was even willing to take it one step further and change my blog's name to Frank Fabulous for the day.

But I didn't. Sigh.

It probably would have failed anyway. A lot of you are friends with me on Facebook and know I'm not Frank. Shit, some of you have even MET me so you clearly would have known it was a prank. So, yeah it wouldn't have totally worked.

Ah well.

By the time I realized it was April Fool's Day, it was already well into the afternoon. After a couple bottles of happy juice, Kerrie and I decided to put ourselves in a relationship together on facebook. We thought it was hysterical. Unfortunately, nobody else did.

Nobody commented or even noticed. I'm not sure what's worse, the fact that everyone either knew it was a joke and didn't care, or that maybe everyone already assumed we were lesbian lovers and they were simply surprised we took so long to make it official. Who knows.

Fail. Fail. Fail.

Don't be disappointed though. I'll get you next year!

Muwhahahahaha!! (Evil laughter)

Shit. I'm a dork. Sorry.

  1. Hahah! I don't know what's worse: you plotting a prank or me not having enough energy to care.

  4. Ha, that's pretty funny. Last year I told everyone that I had sent some penis pictures to someone I met on blogger and she posted them all over the internet and that I was going to quit blogging because of it.

More people fell for it than I thought. It's all in the delivery.

  5. Hahaha, this is hysterical. I actually didn't even bother planning anything this year... Didn't even have the energy for it.

  6. Haha!

We need to decide on impromptu days of the year for practical jokes and tell no one! April Fools is so out there now, no one gives a shit and they can smell a wind-up from a mile away, it's no fun :(

  8. You know- I tried a prank on the boyfriend and I pretty much had to "bring it back up" today so that I could say, "hey, that story I told you yesterday? It was an april fools prank!"
At least we enjoy them, right?

  11. I didn't get pranked at all yesterday BUT my friends sister got fooled so good! Her work told her it was "80s prom day" at work and she totally fell for it and put 110% into her costume (which is awesome in and of itself)

Just thought you should know that!

  12. That would've been quite a good joke. Didn't plan anything as it was stock take day here in NZ so most of us were busy, busy, busy.

  14. You should have saved it... April Fool's pranks are too obvious. Maybe do a half-April-Fool's day prank on October 1st. Then you'd REALLY get us!

  16. funny - papers used to run April Fools in the UK. I once almost got in big shit by finding an April fools in the archives, and incorporating it in a new story. Fortunately I realized. The MiL sent us a sadistic April fools email saying an unknown relative had died and left us $10,000. Nice - huh?

  17. I'm annoyed too, I wanted to post something fake on facebook but was way to busy to play. I'm friends with you on fb so I would have known you weren't frank. Plus you post so many pictures of yourself on your blog I wouldn't have believed it!

  18. I dunno Jen, I could see you as a lesbian. The thought of you and Kerrie as a couple isn't much of a stretch, could actually be pretty hot.

Which it's not of course. But could be, were I someone who was so inclined to think that way. Which I'm not. But if I were...

Woops, look at the time. Gotta run.

  19. Haha, that's a good joke. I know a lot of other bloggers pulled big pranks like that and I had a few but I was like, this is kind of cliche, everyone does this. I had the BEST joke for school though--I had a fake nose ring and I had a doctors appointment so i came in late that morning and I was going to pretend I'd had my piercing done that morning. I was walking up the steps to school, and I had to sneeze, and the nose ring fell out! I couldn't find the backing to the ring and so my plan was fooled. Ah well. There's always next year...

  20. oh man, that would have been hilarious. i think i would have known it was a joke, especially being posted on april fools, but i still would have found it to be hilarious.

and so weird about the feather hair extensions thing. good thing you saw the post on my blog before you bought any--definitely try to get them on Etsy for much cheaper. you'd look so cute with feather extensions wrapped around a braid. :)

  24. This actually made me die laughing.. especially that picture. I was going to come up with something super funny like "hey I told you not to put those revealing photos of me on the internet!" but then I was like.. k thats not thaaaat funny. Anyways, I would have died either way from laughter or because I've decided that I want to be bff's with a 45 year old man with a fuel tank in his gut. Sexy times. x

  25. This make me crack up, beyond all belief. I wouldn't have believed the Frank joke, lol. No man could be this fabulos. xD As for you and Kerrie being lesbian lovers, I would have "liked" that, xD

  30. I'm sure everyone would have played along with your prank. Right? It's getting really hard to stump people with relationship status pranks on Facebook though, everyone is getting better and better on picking up on those.
