One of my favorite television shows is ABC's new hit drama, Pan Am.
CIA spies. Torrid romances. Family drama.
The show has it all.
Plus, it's basically a 1960s fashion show.
Even long before the show existed, I had always been in love with the glorified Pan Am uniform, as shown here on Christina Ricci.
There is something so modestly sexy about the beautiful trademark blue suit and crisp white gloves.
Here is my polyvore interpretation:
I was delighted to discover that you can purchase an official Pan Am bag on the company's website.
The Pan Am uniform is not the only lust-worthy look on the show. When the stewardesses are off-duty, they are adorned in deliciously retro sundresses, spectacular evening gowns, and form-fitting pencil skirts.
Here are a few outfits from the show:
Below are a couple outfits I put together, inspired by the show. I hope you like them.
Do you watch Pan Am? What do you think of Pan Am style?
Love the outfits you put together by the show especially the details.
ReplyDeleteI need to check out that series!!
ReplyDeleteThey look fab!

Good Morning Jennifer! I REALLY need to start watching this show. I am in love with those retro dresses. I truly have always adored those styles. Love your Polyvore Inspiration Boards. Ooooh that pink dress! LOVE LOVE LOVE Hope you're having a great day today and you made me SMILE yesterday! Girl thanks! :D WOOT

i absolutly love Pan Am. I wish I was a stewardess for them back in the day that would have been cool. Plus I love Christina Ricci so thats a plus!!!

I just adore this show! I've been obsessed with the 60s since I was a little girl, so it's so much fun to look at their outfits, and their uniforms. There's something about that era that is just as romantic as it is exciting and intriguing! I totally would have been a flight attendant if I came of age back then!
ReplyDeleteI watched an episode of the show I couldn't really get into it, then again I'm not a big fan of Mad Men as well... but I do love the fashion in it!!
ReplyDeleteI watch Pan Am every week - and I also love the fashion! They all look so stylish & well-put together, even off duty.
ReplyDeleteI remember being excited for the show before it came out but I never ended up watching it. I'm bad about stuff like that. You'd think I'd DVR it but...I'm bad about stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteNonetheless I love the looks you came up with.
ps...missed ya ;).
This is one of the best posts we've seen!! We both love Pan Am and love the fashions and the drama! Christina Ricci has never been better! You did a FAB job putting together the outfits too!!!
ReplyDeleteBTW we are now following you and would love for you to visit again and follow back if you like. :-)

I watch the show on and off and I do like the style in general. But I like the outfits you put together even more. The second one is so me!
ReplyDeleteGayatri
i love their fashion. maybe ill watch this!
ReplyDeletethat giant cape is crazy. I can't believe capes were ever in style.
ReplyDeleteBut then again, we have jeggings now, so, no judgement.
It looks brilliant! I wish air hostesses dressed like that now instead of those foul polyester suits and flesh coloured tights, never a great look! x
ReplyDeleteThank you darling. This series should be the same spins, but I think that in Portugal there is still no :s
ReplyDeleteI'll follow you, follow me, too?
xoxo
I love Pan Am! I really need to catch up though...
ReplyDeleteI missed the first few episodes, and now I don't know if it's worth starting it late. I don't know the characters yet, so it's kind of hard to just jump in and start watching. Although I DO love Christina Ricci and I do love those sundresses!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the show (yet), but I love the fashion. Wrist gloves should come back, amiright?
ReplyDeleteHi, buddy. Thanks for the interesting comment today about birthdays. You're right that people make a big deal about 30. They use it as a deadline for doing adult things like getting married and having a real job. That's ridiculous and saps the event of joy. Don't listen to such rubbish! Live life your way, not according to some arbitrary schedule.
ReplyDeleteI like this post and the show. A while back I posted about a museum on the history of stewardess uniforms. I'll look it up for you.
Here it is -- http://shybiker.livejournal.com/8303.html
ReplyDeleteI love these pretty 1960s looks! I think this is such a chic era.

Ooh, that black and orange dress Ricci is wearing....want! I think these fashions are also more forgiving of a little, ahem, roundness, more than current fashions (JEGGINGS, OMFG).
ReplyDeleteI love your Polyvore creations! Don't you just wish that Polyvore was your closet? Like, it was the computer that Cher had of all her clothes, that put together outfits for her to wear that day?
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen much of the show - I keep missing so many shows! I need to Hulu this.
Amber
I absolutely love the outfits and the fashion era. Everything seemed to be cut to enhance the figure rather than showcase a designers flair for the absurd. <3 this post!
ReplyDeleteLove the show! That era of fashion is totally my taste, along with the Audrey Hepburn/Grace Kelly glamor. I love how elegant the outfits are, yet sexy without having to "show" everything.
ReplyDeleteTimeless elegance.
Wow, how have I still not watched this show?

Oh loving this show too and the fashion. whatever happened to modest and sexy? Why is showing more skin hotter? I do have to say though this show is making me think Ms Ricci looks better with maybe even 10 more pounds on her frame. IMO her head seems too big in some angles.
ReplyDeletehave to watch it yet, I'm waiting for more episodes going on to start.
ReplyDeleteDare I say that I love the styling of women on this show more than Mad Men? [Insert Gasp Here.] I love the full skirt dresses with gloves and the pencil skirts and cardigans. The style of this show seems retro but still is contemporary. It's what a lot of designers have aspired to in recent collections.

I haven't had a chance to watch this show yet, and I'm dying to! I need something to fill the hole in my heart until Mad Men comes back.
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of Pam Am until now, but it looks intriguing. I love your polyvore take on the outfit, and all the outfits featured.

ReplyDeleteI can't wait until we get this over here, the costumes are stunning!

I love Pan Am! I already loved Christina Ricci and I loved the episode where the girl sang with the piano when the President was visiting, I got teary eyed. It made you feel like you were there in that time and place. I really hope this show doesn't get cancelled!

totally loving this show and the fashions! it's amazingly fashionable and chic...god i was born in the wrong era
ReplyDeleteAlthough Pan Am isn't as crafted and stylized as Mad Men,can you believe I actually watch this show for the clothes. A diehard Mad Men fan, I can now get inspiration from both. Love the para fashion/military uniform paired up with white gloves.
ReplyDeleteI love the clothes on this show too! and how put together they always are!
ReplyDeleteLove what you've put together there! That show has great clothes. I've missed the past couple episodes but I saw the first ones of the season.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for the comment on my last post! And nope, my dad isn't Indian haha but that post probably makes him sound like it!
Thanks so much for your comments on my blog, Jennifer! You are so right that Pan Am is basically a 1960s fashion show. ;) I was not a huge fan of the show's pilot, but it got really good by episode three and I'm now really digging it. It doesn't hurt that all the clothes are to die for. I love the outfits you've thrown together; I really do agree with other comments that I missed my era fashion wise. ;) Wishing you a lovely Friday! :) -Coté
ReplyDeleteGREAT POST <3
ReplyDeletevery lovely dear

mind to follow back :)

How gorgeous! I fly so so much for work and I tell you right now it would be much for pleasing if the stewardesses still dressed like they used to in the 60's! haha. The show does look like a fashion show from those photos though, will have to give it a look when it comes out in Australia :) P.s I LOVE those white cat eye glasses you shared - divine.

I think that Christina Ricci looks like a bobblehead doll, so anytime I watch the show I am totally distracted by her freakishly thin neck and over-sized head.

Thanks for introducing me to this show - I haven't even heard about it yet, but it looks fun! I love how all outfits are so colorful!
ReplyDeleteThe 60s were not only a great decade because of the vehicles, but also because of the fashion. I love these outfits you created. I think the Pan Am style is amazing! More women these days need to wear gloves :)
