But, in reality, the world was a much darker place.
Imagine being a kid in the 1950s...
...and these were your toys.
Oh, you don't want to play by yourself anymore? I understand. How about playing a board game with your parents? That's safe, right?
No? Okay, how about browsing through your mom's fashion magazines? Surely those won't be terrifying. Christian Dior dresses, Chanel suits, and satin gloves. Sigh. Let's look at some of the advertisements now!
Well, fuck. Forget that shit. Let's just watch television!
Ugh, seriously?!?!
Ummm you know what, mom? I think I'm just going to go play outside!
Much, much better.
Phew.
Just say hell no to all that shiz!! The clowns are the worst for me, bloody days, I'd freak!! Outside was much better, haha!! You could have the 70's when we played this board game called 'Aggravation', you just ended up wanted to knock each other out by the end, hence the name, haha!Outside was definitely better ;) Have a sweet weekend doll xx
ReplyDeleteOh I have missed these sort of posts by you hun heheh what a creative view of the 50's-love it! And oh, "hi, I'm talking Tina, and I hate you!" Omg remember that episode!!?? We are big fans of the Twilight Zone hehe xox

Thanks, in advance, for that horror.

ReplyDeleteROTFLMFAOOOOOO!!! Jen, I couldn't stop laughing. I never looked at it that way. So much for it being so pristine. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA Frickin' SCARY as hell! This post get's an A++++! Have a great weekend doll. You are BRILLIANT!

Those old toys sure are weird looking. And what's with those magazine ads!?
ReplyDeleteFunny post. Love the old images.
ReplyDeleteI would play outside too. I have a phobia for dolls and clowns and I could never understand how people could have them as toys. You really caught all the scary humour in the 50s. I've always like those 50s painted posters and it is good you also featured some beauty from that era.
ReplyDeletePS: Your first pic was what drew me to your post on my reading list.
You always have the best ideas for posts. This is the best. Great to think about it like that. Usually I just think about the amazing clothes too and that's it.
ReplyDeleteThe first picture soooo scary!
ReplyDeleteSome crazy stuff!
ReplyDeleteLUXESSED

That doll. Opening its eyes while the little girl is sleeping. Seriously creeping. me. out.
ReplyDeleteOh, and now I'm thinking of Chuckie from 'Child's Play'. :/
That girl watching the jam being spread. She will haunt me for the rest of my life. I can see her move her head towards me, take the knife, come through the computer screen then stab me. Then laugh hysterically.
ReplyDeleteOMG pant wettingly funny Jen - up there with a weekend at Bikini Atoll
ReplyDeleteAhaha as a vintage addict this post made me laugh so hard hahahahaha! I missed u!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,

I have no idea why, but old fashioned kids toys, especially the dolls, creep me out so much!
ReplyDeleteHah, I bet you could get any decade to look just as creepy! Just think about all those magic ninja turtles and nagareboshi gin and critters and whatever we watched from telly in the beginning of 90's even though we weren't old enough. I am welcoming those nightmares back.
ReplyDeleteOMg..this is such a fabuloys post. I was laughing all the way. n that chimp toy, i had a similar one as a kid, i loved him.

New Post Up
I'm someone who has lived a life seemingly in the background, I must say this final indignity I have suffered almost too much to endure. You see, I have been sickly and weak since the day I was born and doomed to go through all my life a weakling. I seemed to have always suffered from one illness or another and could never play with the other children as I so desperately wanted to. Mother always made such a big fuss over me, also, making the situation worse as the other boys teased me mercilessly after they saw it. I was browsing the internet searching on how i could be transformed into a powerful when i came across the email of a man named Lord Mark. who was a VAMPIRE so I told him that I has always dreamed of becoming a VAMPIRES, All i did was just to follow the procedure that i was been told, and i bet you that procedure I took change my entire life to something i ever desire, freedom, sickness free, pains free, fame, influence, connections and even more that i can. Thanks to Lord Mark. Do you want a life full of interesting things? Do you want to have power and influence over others? To be charming and desirable? To have wealth, health, and longevity? contact the vampires creed today via email: Vampirelord7878@gmail.com
