I'm back!

First, I want to thank everyone for all the sweet comments and support during the past week. It really means a lot to me. Hugs to you all! I have the most fabulous bloggy friends in the world. :)

It was a sad but special trip.

My grandmother's funeral was simple, tasteful, and beautiful.

After the burial, my whole family got together at my aunt's house for food and memories. Despite the circumstances, it was nice to have my entire family together. I got to catch up with all my cousins and admire how cute their kids have gotten in the past year.

Here are some photos of me and a few of my cousins:

The granddaughters also got a chance to take home a few pieces of Grandma's favorite jewelry. It was mostly costume jewelry, but there were a lot of really adorable necklaces, rings, and bracelets to choose from.

I took home four necklaces, which can be seen in this horrible photo. Haha.

I am excited to wear these necklaces because it will be like carrying a piece of my grandmother with me wherever I go.

Now that I am back home, I am hoping that after such a tragedy, life will toss a few happy experiences my way...

It's going to take me a while to get back into the swing of things, so I apologize if you don't hear from me right away. By the end of this week, I should be back into my usual routine.

I hope you are all having a fantastic week. xoxo

Hi Jennifer. I am pleased your back safely and that things went well. I totally understand what you mean about those sorts of events and it sounds meaningful that you were able to spend some time with your family and reconnect. I love the jewellery that you receieved, there are some truly beautiful pieces there. I think the value of the pieces will be in what you they remind you of as you said. This is one of the things that I want for myself too with my nana that died last year. I know that in time I will receieve an items of hers but right now, almost a year on, we have still on sorted out her belongings and they remain set up in her room in our house. I guess that makes it seem like she is still hear in a small way. For my birthday today, my boyfriend bought me a locket which I can store her picture in and I hope that will have a similar effect. Anyway, the point is that I feel like I understand and having your grandmother's jewellery will be part of your memories and you will constantly be reminded of her. I think it is really beautiful that you have that. I hope this week will be better for you.

Welcome back! I'm so glad you gave your grandmother a dignified send off and had a good time with your family.
How nice to share out her jewellery so every woman in the family has a little memento of the lovely lady.

It looks like a great time of re-connecting with everyone although for a sad occasion. 2 years ago my grandmother died and I cried my eyes out begging my husband to fly with me to the funeral because I was afraid. What began as a sad and frightening experience became a wonderful and beautiful time of reconnecting with the past, family that I have not seen in so long, and celebration of my grandmother's life. Sometimes tragedies remind us of the important things in life and somehow give us purpose, although it is so terrible to go through. I'm so glad you had this time and you look absolutely beautiful in these photos!! Your smile is radiant Jennifer.

Oh and regarding your comment on my page, I would be more than flattered if you copy my look! I am seriously flattered that you like it!!! :) Feel free...and post photos because I would love to see what variations you come up with! :) Have a great day my friend.

I'm glad you're feeling better. You definitely deserve some High's in life, so hopefully something great will be coming your way.

My gran gave me a bracelet a few years ago, so I know how it feels to have something special like that.

I can't believe you'd miss my dorky little blog when you already have a legion of people who support you on your own! I mean, I'm one of them, but yeah, y'know, still.

Awkward conversational skills aside, I'm glad to hear that you're back. And I personally think that it's really sweet that you would have something of your grandmother to carry around with you. The littlest things can be big, right? Take your time getting back into the swing of things, you'll just have an assload of supportive comments to read through. :)

am so sorry about your grandmother. lost my grandma a year ago and i always miss her. It's so hard to go back to her house and not think of her. She's the first one to greet me whenever i visit cos she seats in the veranda in front of her house all day. That's why it's weird now when i visit.

One blessing from this is that you get to see your relatives again. Family is always important.

Am glad you're back. Have a great day.

It's a weird process organising the house of someone who's passed away, isn't it? If things go well (hopefully, but sadly not always) it should bring the family together. I have a brooch from my grandma which I cherish very much and wear often.
Good to have you back!
