My Vintage Vogue

A while ago my friend Imogen shared one of her favorite websites, My Vintage Vogue, on her blog.

It has quickly become one of my favorite websites. It is basically a huge collection of vintage fashion photos and illustrations.

Sometimes when I'm feeling sad or bored, I will head over to this site and lose myself in the glamorous furs, jewels, and hats of the 1920s, 30s, 40s, and 50s.

This week has been one of those times. Work has been an astonishingly dreary place to be these days. I will blog more about that later.

But for now I want to dive straight into a world that no longer exists, or perhaps never did.

I want to be in a world where cocktails are served before dinner, extravagant hats are admired on the streets, and every real lady carries a satin handkerchief which matches her pumps.

I want life to be glamorous.

Is that too much to ask?

All photos courtesy of My Vintage Vogue.

PS. I got my laptop fixed! Yay!

I don't know what it is but these women have like a strong confidence in them. If you were to take the hat away it wouldn't be as strong but the hat definitely makes them come alive.

Fabulous images... I'll go visit that site. It's really amazing how those women dressed before. I wish we can be as elegant as they were during those times.

Oh, these are very glamorous! So beatufiul! Even Paris isn't as chic as it used to be back in the day it seems. I wish people would still take the time to get dressed up, no matter what the occasion. Even Hollywood has lost so much of the old-school glamour it used to have...

Sometimes I do think that I was born at the wrong time. But then again, maybe not.
Yay for getting it fixed!!!
Hang in there honey, work is only work, try not to let it get you too down. Hope your week gets better :)

Jen, I totally agree with you. I'm all for the glamourous days of the past, especially women wearing hats. Man, that really turns my...anyway, digressing. While my tastes in vintage ads tend to focus on cars, sports, appliances and more MANLY things, I find myself simalarily longing for, and wanting to get lost in a simpler time. The fashion ads of yesteryear seem to have a timeless quality, and a certain something that is definitely missing from anything around today. While I'm no fashionista, I'll be sure to check the site out.

I checked out the website and it is really cool! Being glamorous is not too much to ask for. You should feel glamorous already!

I'm coming back here for more! Or actually for some mascara advice. For volume, I like the Sephora generic brand as well as Maybelline Define-A-Lash, which works pretty well for being a cheap brand. Make sure to get the pink bottle, NOT the green one... the green is for length and the pink is for volume. XO
