Once Upon a Time: Divya Bharti

She was India's teen dream in the early 1990s.

Beautiful. Vivacious. Charismatic. Talented.

But now her tragic demise remains one of the country's most shocking unsolved mysteries.

I never saw any of her films-now I have to find some. Geesh how sad-sounds fishy to me but stranger things have happened-it could have been a freak accident....xox

The face looks familiar but the name and the story don't. What a fascinating tale. x

Such a tragic story.

Wow. That definitely sounds shady. Who knows what actually happened, but it certainly doesn't sound like an accident.

How tragic..

Interesting but tragic -- it does seem kind of fishy as to what really happened.

I've heard her name lots, but have only seen her in Rang. She sort of reminds me of Sri Devi. I don't know what to think of her death, but there's very few young artists that can handle fame of that magnitude and hit rock bottom :(

Wow she was so pretty. I can hardly believe she was only 18 with all the things she had done. Absolutely tragic. There has to be more to it than just falling I think.

I LOVE the way you write.

I was a total Divya Bharti fan when I was a kid. And had absolutely no idea how she passed away. Over the years I totally forgot about her. This post got so many long lost memories back.

I don't remember her death as i was very young but i remember dancing in her song called "payelia" when i was 7 or 8 years old, my mom used to say you exactly dance like Divya bharti but back then i didn't know who she was, but when i looked at her pics and watched her movie, my jaw drop literally, she is so naturally beautiful and talented . i will treasure my childhood memories and her always, she is my fav till date
