FRUiTS (Part One)
Lately I have kind of become obsessed with Harajuku street fashion - made famous by the book FRUiTS.
If you love fashion, I don't need to explain the Japanese style (or the reason for my obsession) any further. But in case you aren't familiar with it, I'll go into a little detail.
The style became popular in 1997, after photographer Shoichi Aoki noticed a new trend in fashion among young people in Harajuku. Young people were mixing traditional Japanese clothing with Western designs, even punk clothing. It became known as "Harajuku Free Style."
Since the trend began in the mid-nineties, the street style has expanded to cover many sub-genres, like punk, Decorer, Gothic Lolita or just kawaii.
The look has gained a cult status all over the world.
The style is fun, wild, and original. It gives you the freedom to be as crazy as you want, which I highly approve of. Plus, it is fashion at its most creative. These kids are not merely fashionistas, but artists.
What do you think of this style?

Love it. It's so goddamn crazy...like 50 closets just exploded all over them.
I'd never wear it but I cheer on anyone who does.
You know how much I love Japanese street fashion, but Harajuku might be a little extreme for my taste. Hm...it's definitely unique and it made Japanese fashion famous, so, I think it's a great style.
You might have heard about this website called Style Arena http://www.style-arena.jp/index_e.htm
Here you can see many interesting outfits weekly.
I think it is so fun and awesome! But its definitely not for me ;)

I've always adored the Harajuku style. I think it's so colorful and wonderful, and it really showcases how unique the individual is. Not to mention it photographs wonderfully! By the way, you're very welcome about the award. :) And I'm glad to hear your reaction about winning my giveaway! I'm so jealous ... that handbag was one of my very favorite items that I've ever given away!

It gets a little too colorful and cutesy for my taste sometimes, but I love the Lolita looks and how happy everyone looks in their outfits.

Frutis is actually one of my fave magazines to look through when I want to be blown away and it really puts me into perspective. I could always use a tip from them, even if it's a minor detail from a look.
I didn't know much about this style before so I'm very pleased that you have informed me. I love the colours, creativity and patterns and the freedom to mix whatever you want together in a way that looks good. I'm thinking how cool it would be if more people dressed like that, the world would feel and so look so much happier. Thank you so much for your email. I will reply tomorrow. I appreciate it so much, you really helped me and we have even more in common than I thought.
Those are so ultra cool. I love them. I hope you've had a great week. I certainly have. Thanks for your comment on my Eva Mendes post. I appreciate it. Enjoy the upcoming weekend.
Its creative, individualistic, and allows you to have a tonne of fun with your wardrobe. However, I personally don't think I can pull it off.
Thanks for stopping by me. Do come by more often ;)
