Sneaking backstage!

What would this blog be without another Jenny & Kerrie adventure story?!?!

On Saturday night, Kerrie and I attended the Vampire Weekend/Beach House concert. I got Kerrie the tickets a few months ago as a birthday present.

The first thing we did that night was quickly take pre-concert photos at her house. Because, well, why not?

This is what I wore:

I finally brought my ol' Chanel bag (with vintage scarf) out of the closet. My sweatshirt and tutu are from Forever 21. Fishnets were a gift from my mom. I am performing my favorite pose for you here. I saw it done on America's Next Top Model a few years ago and loved it, simply because it was so cheesy and it made Tyra livid! It's called Catalog Modeling 101. LOL!

Then we had some fruity refreshments and took photos in front of posters.

While the opening act to Beach House performed, Kerrie and I went into our office (a tiny bathroom stall) to plan how we were going to sneak backstage.

After dancing all over the outdoor venue to Beach House and our favorite songs by Vampire Weekend, Kerrie and I finally discovered our opportunity to sneak backstage: a security guard had left his position at the door to check on some kids smoking pot nearby. Kerrie and I ran like hell into the building.

We found the roadies' break room and stole a couple waters from their fridge.

We ran all around backstage for about 20 minutes, trying to figure out where Beach House was hanging out and where Vampire Weekend would be exiting, once they finished their set.

Unfortunately, a security guard was coming near us, so we ducked into a broom closet.

Stealing inspiration from various television shows and movies, Kerrie and I took the cleaning equipment outside into the hallway and pretended to be custodians. Without uniforms, however, it was a failure. The security guard yelled "Hey, you girls don't work here! Put the brooms down. PUT THE BROOMS DOWN RIGHT NOW!" and he took our arms and escorted us out of the building, like criminals. He made a huge scene and everyone stared. I'm not going to lie. Kerrie and I enjoyed the attention.

He then kicked us out of the venue. We didn't panic, however, because we figured there was a back entrance to the stage. We ran for a long time and finally came across another security guard patrolling the grounds. Kerrie told him our boyfriends were sound engineers for the show and they asked us to meet them backstage. The security guard shockingly believed us and told us there was a secret entrance through a fence. We found it and went inside. It took us right to the tour buses!

We hid near the tour buses for what seemed like two hours. God knows what Vampire Weekend was doing, since the concert was already over. We finally decided to board one of the tour buses and just pray it belonged to Vampire Weekend or Beach House. As soon as we got on the bus, however, another security guard caught us and chased us. We tried to explain that we were friends of "Chris" and we belonged there. He didn't believe us and took our arms and escorted us to the main entrance.

When Rian picked us up, he wasn't surprised to see a security guard dragging us to the car. He's used to our "situations" by now, he says.

We were crushed that we never got to even catch a glimpse of any band member, but we were pretty pleased that we managed to get back stage twice. It gave us a more clear idea of how to proceed when we attend our next rock concert.

(Oh, and this is what we looked like at 1:45 a.m. right after our adventure was abruptly ended. Hahaha!)

Anyway, it was a fun night. We tried. We really tried.

What about you? Have any of you ever snuck backstage at a concert?

What a fun night. I am so incredibly impressed by your attempts at sneaking backstage and how some of them worked. I don't think I would be brave enough to do that but you two are amazing. You have some good skills and ideas for getting backstage and I laughed at pretending to be cleaners and I couldn't believe you even got back in after that! WOW. I also love your outfit for the concert especially the top. Its so sweet and I would love to have a top like that.

Man I am always amazed at the things you two get into! I'd be too scared to try half of what you do. LOVED the heart blouse, I dunno it's almost like something we all wore in 2nd and 3rd grade, with stocking/leggings when they were cool the first time around. FB movie is good. I think for those of us that can remember college before FB and then when it was launched and then as it grew...it's cool (for me) to sit there and go "WOW I REMEMBER that"
